Of course the rating is not for the parking lot which is in the fayetteville soccer club area.nnThe trail was amazing. Nice amount of shade. The trail is paved so no issues getting muddy or wet like some trails and pathways. Plenty of things to see and read. Will definitely go again. Me and my pup enjoyed behind out there.

One of the few great things in Fayetteville

From army soldiers doing a ruck to everyday people taking a stroll, the Cape Fear River Trail is a must in the Fayetteville area. It's a 4 mile paved path (one way) starting at the parking lot by the soccer fields near Methodist University all the way down to the suburbs. You can extend this an additional 1.5 miles (5.5 miles total one-way) if you continue on the road for a bit through Clark Park Nature Center. With this distance, it's best if you bring some water along!nnThere are two porta-potty stops about 1.25 miles in and another one about 2.75 miles in so you can take a tinkle break if needed. Make sure you bring some hand sani! They are usually out of soap and water. *disappointed face*nnThere are plenty of bridges, greenery, and some animals that you may come across. I regularly see squirrels and a turtle every now and then. Lots of shade and coverage so if you go in the middle of the day you won't roast too bad. The river itself is not easily seen, but if you make an effort to go past some shrubbery you can see the lovely shade of brown that is the Cape Fear River.

The Cape Fear River Trail is a great place to go running or for a walk. It would be even better if people picked up their dog’s poop on the actual trail. There are a few steep hills that will make your run challenging. Enjoy the beautiful scenery.
