Meghan is a wonderful teacher & makes painting with her fun & rewarding. She helps people bring out their inner artist. I love that she encourages everyone to do their painting in their own unique way. Painting with Meghan is always a wonderful experience!

A combination of my two favorite things - Art and Lilly Pulitzer! I signed up for a painting class at Life's a Beach and was nervous that my painting wouldn't come out any good, but I was wrong! The instructor Megan guided us step by step through the painting and I was really happy with my end result. The flamingo stencils helped a lot too, lol! I had so much fun that I signed up for another class at her studio next week!

What a fun experience! We had the best time painting with Megan at Life's a Beach this morning! She made an intimidating painting fun and easy. Our paintings came out so good, I can hardly believe it! Thanks Meg! See you next August!

I did this class with my mother in law and my sister in law as a fun family outing on vacation. The class started at 11:00 A.M. I arrived after my family at 10:55 A.M. There was a full house and some people got an early start. The paintings were beautiful however the instruction was extremely poor. There were a couple of situations in which Meghan our instructor would work way ahead and have an attitude when some of the customers asked questions. At 12:15 A.M. my sister in law and myself were not done with our paintings. Meghan said we could finish our paintings on another picnic table in the sun. This wasn't ideal as we did not have any sunscreen on however Meghan took the paint brushes that we weren't using and cleaned everything up around us. Since the painting requires several different sized paint brushes, I was unable to finish my painting and my sister in law had to rush to get hers done.nnMy recommendation is that if you can get a painting done under the instructor's timeline (approximately an hour), then this may be a good experience for you. I would not participate in this class with any expectation that the instructor, Meghan, will be flexible or helpful.nnBelow is a picture of my incomplete painting (left) and my sister in law's rushed painting (right). LOL I suppose I'll go to the store and get my own supplies so I don't inconvenience Meghan even though my family spent $75 on this project.

I have painted with Meghan approximately six times. I keep coming back because with her, something that was once intimidating to me is joyful. She emphasizes creativity and fun while providing enough guidance to let you accomplish beautiful things on your own. I love that she won't fix mistakes for you, but help you find your way to your own solution.nnMy son has a fine motor processing disorder (dysgraphia) and a big imagination. He's created amazing paintings in her classes, including a mutant octopus and a shark with a poisonous tooth. As a teacher, I see in his paintings the beauty of giving students a little structure and guidance and then getting out of the way. He's a kid who used to cry when he had to pick up a pencil, crayon, or paintbrush, but he so looks forward to painting with Meghan on our annual beach trip and has even chosen to take art as an elective in school. That's high praise from a 13-year-old boy!nnMy paintings grace multiple parts of my home. I was the kid who dropped taking art as soon as I could in school. I keep one painting in my classroom to share with my math students at the beginning of the year. I tell them of the kid who hated art in school and skeptically showed up to a painting class in North Carolina as an adult. I tell them of the teacher who helped me believe in myself and who showed me that mistakes can become beautiful and I didn't need rescuing. One day in the spring of this year a student asked me to bring my painting back out so she could see it as a reminder while tackling a difficult new concept. If you want to learn, grow, and find joy, then Local Color is the place to go.
