Poquoson Place Apartments

I must say that the apartment itself is spacious and ideal for a small family. The maintenance team is very professional. They really stay on top ensuring the community is in tip-top condition. They provide quick and efficient service and have been all smiles when I’ve interacted with them. The downfall to living here is my neighbor and the lack of concern management seems to have for a peaceful community. I live in apartment 15E, and from the onset of me moving out here, my downstairs neighbor has been a thorn in my side. I have lived in my apartment for a little over a year now. The first encounter I had with my neighbor was around 2am one morning where he told me that I’m black and don’t belong in Poquoson and then he hit me. Over the course of the next several months, this neighbor would stand at his front door and stare at me whenever I pulled up to the apartment. He would knock on the door and complain about noise at 6pm when we’re simply sitting on the couch watching tv. It became known that this particular individual wasn’t even on the lease and was bunking with the actual person on the lease. This neighbor has routinely called the police on us for noise complaints for simply walking in our home. Maintenance expressed to them that floors were thin and nothing could be done about it. Management was notified of the assault, of the bogus phone calls to police and frequent harassment by this individual who was not on the lease. We were told to continue making complaints on this individual to build a trail. WE did. Management told us that the situation would be rectified by the end of August. By the time November came around, this individual was not only still there, management decided it was a good idea to put him on the lease having full knowledge of the issues. The harassment has continued and to make matters worse, management served me with paperwork in reference to noise complaints stating that if there is another complaint within 21 days, I’ll be asked to leave. Each and every time the police have knocked on my door, they say they heard absolutely nothing when they stood outside the apartment to access the validity of the complaint. Never have we been given a warning by the police, because there wasn’t anything for our neighbor to complain about. Apparently, Jeff knows the property owner of our residential development because he always drunkenly says, “I’m just going to call Scott!!” This has unfortunately worked in his favor as we were served with paperwork asking us not to renew our lease about a month ago. We are not the first tenants to complain about this individual and I am sure we won’t be the last. The welfare of the legal tenants should be the priority of the management office and they have made it very apparent it is not. DO NOT MOVE INTO THIS COMMUNITY!!!!

My husband and I moved last November from Hampton, and we absolutely LOVE Poquoson Place! Very friendly staff, and the maintenance team is far beyond what we expected! They truly love and care for their residents and that is so huge for us! If we ever have an issue, they come the very next day and they will make sure the job is done correctly! Very peaceful, and neighbors are super friendly. It truly feels like our home away from home.

My husband and I moved in at the end of April, and we are so in love with our little apartment. Its so clean & quiet, and the staff have exceeded our expectations. Heather in the office is such a blessing to this complex with her friendliness and compassion to help! The maintenance staff is timely and all around helpful for us residents. Were so thankful for our little home!!

I've read some horror stories on here before about Poquoson Place Apartments... here is another one. My uncle moved in there about 4 years ago after my mom died. He moved in on the 15th of the month. Last year, he went month to month because he knew he was looking for another house. He recently bought a house and put his notice in. He wanted to move out May 15, so before April 15 he put his 30 day notice in. He was told they cant accept half months (I guess they used to, but no longer). No biggie, he told them he would pay for the whole month of may and be out before the last day. He paid the months rent. Today they called and wanted to know why he was still there. They said he broke the lease by not moving out on the 15th and now he is liable for any costs to the next tenant that they had already rented the apartment to. They expected him to pay the whole month and still be out by the 15th. When he reminded them that he had come in and gave his notice they claimed that he would have had to give another notice at the end of April (about two weeks later). These people are crazy. I fully expect them to keep his security deposit because they claim he is breaking the lease. Just beware... I dont personally know of anyone that has ever got their deposit back. I figured this 60 something year old man that has never caused a problem and will be leaving the apartment in better shape than he got it stood a chance... but looks grim.

More than pleased with my apartment experience and the staff. Great community.
