Orthopaedic Hospital at Sentara CarePlex
Reviews

The staff at Orthopaedic Hospital at Sentara CarePlex was amazing. I recently had a procedure performed by Tidewater Orthopaedic, during the Covid pandemic. While I was excited to get this done, I had my reservations due to the time we're in. From the beginning, the staff informed me of what precautions they had put in place and what I should expect.nnI arrived for my surgery, checked in and the care I received was excellent. Every point of contact I had during my visit exceeded my expectations. The entire process was streamlined and you could tell each person enjoyed what they do every day. The morning after the procedure they called me, just to check in and ensure everything was OK. While I hope this is my first and last procedure, I would choose Orthopaedic Hospital at Sentara CarePlex in the future. Thank you for making this temporary problem a pleasant experience.

My wife had to have surgery here with Dr. Mason during Covid. I was very happy with the pre-op surgical team and instructions, they communicated clearly and I knew what to expect on the date of her surgery. At the completion of surgery Dr. Mason was great with sharing information to us and making sure we were ready to face recovery. All things I have come to expect from Tidewater Orthopedics.nnThe reason I felt compelled to review is the service we received from our post operation CNA Shaniece. In a moment where my wife was afraid and in pain, Shaniece was extremely delicate, patient, and supportive during that time. As I watched her work I was I overwhelmed with the amount of support she gave my wife and I left feeling like she received the best care possible. It was truly unlike anything I have ever seen. It was like being cared for by a family member.

Scheduled knee surgery here with Tidewater Orthopedics. The nurses from the hospital called twice to get all my information, including current medication, and to go over procedure for before the surgery, when to arrive, etc. Both of the nurses I spoke to were very nice and pleasant at the time.nnI arrive the morning of my surgery, pay Sentara, and then I go to the back and get in the gown, get all the vitals done. While signing the final paperwork releases while laying in the bed, the nurse on the last page shows my medication list, where my medications are written out and listed. She freezes and asks if I am taking the one written on the top of the list. I say yes... just like I told the nurses that called me... how else would it be listed on there?nnApparently, this medication interferes with anesthesia and so I cannot have the surgery without being off of this medication for at least 10 days. HOW DID THIS GET MISSED when the nurses called me days before the surgery and we discussed my current medications?nnThe doctor came to talk to me and said we would have to reschedule... I waited until the business manager confirmed I recieved my refund, and then left...nnHuge waste of time and money (time off work for me and the person who has to be there with you) because of multiple people's lack of ability to accurately do their job... what is the point of calling and asking about medications if you aren't checking those medications to make sure they are okay with the procedure that is scheduled. Thank goodness the nurse the day of was paying attention, otherwise this could of had deadly consequences that were overlooked by everyone else.

This review is about the Orthopaedic Hospital at the Sentara Careplex. I went in there recently for knee surgery. The staff was outstanding and I could not have been happier with the surgery. The waiting room was comfortable and I did not wait that long to be seen. The nurses and doctors went through the surgery procedures, triple-checking which knee would be worked on (a good thing!), and reviewing the post-op procedures. After the procedure, they took care to go over the follow-up activities with me and my wife and called me the next day to check on my progress. I could not have been happier with the treatment I received. Thank you!
