Beyond unimpressed. Had a morning appointment scheduled for my 1 year old daughter. They switched to an afternoon appointment without checking with us first. When I called to reschedule because daughter will not be awake during the afternoon appointment (not by choice, the girl sleeps the afternoon away) they would not reschedule, they said they’d put us on a list that takes months to get an appointment. This appointment had been scheduled for 3 months out as it was. They don’t give a hoot about children’s actual health.

Haven’t even had our appointment yet so can’t speak to the actual bedside manner of the providers. As someone who works in healthcare myself, I do understand that the healthcare experience begins from the very first patient encounter, which often is the phone call to schedule an appt, and the scheduling experience has been awful. I’ve called the derm office three times today and each call was met with a dull and discouraging tone. Each scheduler I spoke with did not seem compassionate or eager to assist. They were passive aggressive in their responses and seemed annoyed by my questions. If a parent is calling, it’s usually out of concern for their child, and if not met with an ounce of comfort, it only leaves a more anxious parent.nnPlease do better, CHKD. This is very disappointing for a well-known children’s hospital. If the schedulers are/were having a bad day, I apologize and know that we don’t fully know what other people are dealing with. But we should still aim to speak to each other the way we’d want to be spoken to.

I have been trying to make a New Patient appointment for my daughter for a day and a half. She needs to be seen asap. I called at 8am on 1/22, gave all of my daughters info and was told a nurse would call me back to schedule her appointment.(Not sure why a nurse has to call a new patient back to schedule her 1st appt) I called back at 2pm to inquire how long this normally took, to which I was told, they are seeing patients and will call you back when they have time in between patients. I waited the rest of the day, tried to call at 4:38pm and the phones were forwarded to answering service. It is now 1/23 and the nurse called around 10am (when I was in meeting) and I tried to call back soon after but she was seeing patients again... I am not sure why the ladies ANSWERING the phone and speaking with me MULTIPLE times cannot schedule the appointment?! It is ridiculous. It is 12pm and I've still yet to be called back. I made an appt for tomorrow with another group, and guess what, they made the appt right when I called the first time... I needed my daughter to be seen asap... Absolutely ridiculous the way they schedule appointments. I hope management sees this!!!!
