First and foremost, Dr. Hiram Rodriguez was amazing to work with over my short time with this practice. Unfortunately, I needed services for my school program that I received by other members of this practice. I was sent to collections for their services because the practice did not submit my visit to my insurance for processing and I refused to pay out of pocket. I requested that they submit my visit to my insurance twice and they never did.. I was told by their business office that they knew my insurance wouldn't pay which is the wrong answer as I have Tricare and the fees for services are negotiated and set. Regardless, my insurance company needs to present me a bill after they review the services...this is how insurance works. Eventually, after Dr. Rodriguez got involved, I receive an apology from the practice manager and was told that my case was closed. Now, more then a year later I'm receiving a bill for those same services which the practice manager told me was settled. It looks like I'm gonna need to speak to my insurance company again to figure out what I'm responsible for because this practice continues to have their own way of trying to collect fees from their customers! Please know your benefits and do not allow these actions to confuse you into not using your benefits fully as you have earned them through personal sacrifice. Even the best doctors in the World cannot maintain a successful practice when their business is run like this. Very shameful indeed.
I've never spoken with a business of any kind that were so rude, unwelcoming, and basically don't want to be bothered in my life. People like that should not be taking calls, calling customers, or etc. The whole process of trying to find a good Doctor for my mother has been very questionable when it came to them. I'm definitely looking for another doctor and the fact that my mother hasn't even got to see her doctor that they assigned her and then call and cancel with no regard to her at all or the severity for the importance of certain situations.
5 stars for Dr. Guzman-Lee and Dr. Rodriguez. Among the best primary care doctors anywhere.nn0 stars for the staff. They routinely lose test results faxed from outside facilities. They misread (or don't read at all) written appointment requests. Patients may not enter waiting room without calling main phone # from outside door and going through extensive phone menu. How about a door bell?nnThe staff & office mgt problems are so great that the superb physician care cannot make up for them. These doctors deserve better. Patients deserve better.
Dr. Hirim Rodriguez is a very kind, thoughtful, and knowledgeable physician. I would, and have, referred patients to him. My experiences with him have always been positive. His nurse is a jewel, and she is very pleasant and thorough in what she does.nThe office staff at Amelia Medical Associates have been far less superior. It is difficult to get someone to answer the phone; information has been requested that did not reach the physician; the staff member answering the phone is not always courteous or easy to speak with. Important information is not given in a timely manner before an appointment is made. An example: No mention was made that the door would be locked, and patients would have to call the office from outside the door to have someone unlock the door, take a temperature and then admit them for their appointment. The issue was that no one answered the phone or a knock on the door. I waited for 30 minutes before finally get through to someone to admit me. By that time I had developed a headache causing my blood pressure to be higher than normal. There were absolutely no patients in the waiting room. One patient waiting outside the office left before being seen, or rather before someone came to admit them. This method of seeing patients seems unsatisfactory. The office staff is behind a glass enclosure and all patients are wearing a mask. I can't understand this protocol.
I started out as a patient of Dr. Roberts, then Dr. Simpson, and finally Dr. Castaldo at this practice. I have never waited more than 10 minutes in the waiting room for my appointment. The women at the front desk are very professional. When I go to the back, my physician, Dr. Castaldo, is the best. He’s charming, efficient, and competent. I am a very satisfied patient.
