Reviews
I feel like I need to defend this emergency room finally. I don’t see many good reviews on this place and it made me nervous to go to this ER even though I was having chest/abdominal pain and considered driving 50 minutes to Portsmouth. I am very glad I went here instead. I was fortunate to have to go at night time. So, if there is a way to go at night instead of the daytime I highly recommend that. I know people complain about them being slow, but if there’s a bunch of people in front of you they’re not going to take you in super quick unless you address how serious it is. I encountered a pregnant woman tonight who apparently had fallen down ten steps and I saw them take her in as soon as they realized how bad she was panicking. I spoke to the front desk about having chest/abdominal pain (which is a very serious problem to have) and they immediately placed wires on me for an EKG, checked my blood pressure, my temperature (I have a mild fever of 100.2), (the man was super considerate and thoughtful of my feelings because I expressed how nervous I get at ERs, I mean you legitimately have to force me to go because I’m just terrified of hospitals. He was super kind and made me laugh even though I was in pain) He then sent me to the bathroom for a urine sample and was very helpful in sending me in all the right directions, and then sent me to radiology for a chest x-ray. All of this got done within 30 minutes. 5 stars alone. And then I sat and waited back at the ER for maybe 30 more minutes or less, but I wasn’t bothered because I know they were treating others as well. I just talked to a couple of nice guys at social distance and discussed jobs, life, etc. Anyways I got called back and they took vials of blood for labs, hooked me up to an IV, and checked mynblood pressure every hour. This SSgt guy was super nice, he was formal for sure, but I have a humorous personality so I’m glad he understood my humor or it would have been awkward lol. I eventually had to go get an ultrasound after another 30 minutes passed (them SOBs hurt a little bit BTW because they need to check like every organ possible to see what’s wrong and they gotta DIG in there) I didn’t mean to but me and the lady doing the ultrasound were laughing pretty hard during the whole thing. She was genuinely so sweet and I felt so much more relaxed after it was done. She was very instructive and helped guided me on what I needed to do. I chilled back in my room for maybe an hour with doctors coming in an out hooking me back up etc. Oooo and they also turned off the lights for me and let me plug up my phone so I could watch YouTube and message my husband because he couldn’t come in. Good news I wasn’t having a heart attack, which I figured anyways or i would be in way more pain, everything was running great, except I somehow managed to have esophagitis and a gallstone even though I’m only 20. They explained everything to me it was mostly because I lost so much weight and kept fluctuating 10 pounds because Keto seemed like a great idea at the time. But once I got off of it that’s when my chest pain started hurting off and on for like a month until I caved and came here. But they ran through all the scans, organs, and etc and prescribed me some medication to help and put me on quarters for a full duty day which was super thoughtful of them. I was there from 7:45ish-11:30pm. Not too bad considering how much I had to get done. For me to be afraid of Hospitals and feel so much better and relaxed right before I left, I’m super impressed with their kindness, formality, and their work. They’ve definitely improved. I know the rating looks low, but I believe it’s just because people don’t really take the time to give a review on something unless they’re super angry with the ER or just not satisfied so it’s an unfair rating. Definitely worth going to and I hope whatever you need to go for, you feel better. (:
had to go get 4 stitches on my finger they did a great job.
Slowest ER I have ever been to, better to just go to the urgent care off-base.Dont waste your time here
Kept telling them I was dehydrated and that I was going to pass out. Got told they we’re busy and ended up waiting 3 hours before I was given an IV and pain medication for my headache. Pretty sure the doctor thought I was only there for pain medication due to how horrible I was treated. She lifted up my gown without asking me but I was too weak to stop her or defend myself. I fell asleep while I was waiting for treatment.
I would not trust taking my dogs stuffed animal to a place like this. Completely misguided doctors incapable of making sound diagnosis. Time after time I have had to use this place but no more will I ever give my trust to this very limited experienced crew. They do the very minimum when it comes to tests even after asking for justification of diagnosis the doctors were unable to explain and made the head nurse explain and discharge. I most recently came in for sinus infection and possible bronchitis 5 hrs later told it was viral (there was no positive test to determine that it was actually viral). I asked for a blood test to determine if it was viral or bacterial and was denied. I'm pregnant, have shortness of breath, fever, persistent/productive coughing, and severe sinus pressure/pain. I've had bronchitis and a sinus infection before but it was like I was speaking another language. No one seemed to hear me. I would avoid this ER at all costs possible it is not worth the waste of time nor risk of being misdiagnosed.
