Hampton VA Medical Center

I have experienced excellent care at the VA Medical Center and Clinics. One complaint: It is very difficult to get a timely appointment with your PCP. All other Clinics have understandable wait times due to specialty. The people at the Hampton VA really seem to care which i deeply appreciate.

Extremely hostile towards veterans over the phones as if I personally know them and made there life somewhat difficult they seem to want to cut you off before you can ask a question at this facility honestly if you don’t want to do customer service then please quit!!! And let them hire a true professional that takes pride in there work like I once did for this great nation

This is my first review. I've read tons of negative reviews criticizing just about every area of this medical center. I wonder who manages the site to respond or even pass them on?nnMy review is positive. I just transferred from the Temple, Texas VA Medical Center which treated me excellent! So far I have only had experiences with the call center servicers. All were great. The first was the young man I called to have my records transferred from Texas to Virginia. I simply explained to him what I wanted to do, and he ask me to verify my identity and new address and it was done. I will say, he sounded a bit rough at the the beginning of the call. I simply asked him how his day was going and I noticed his tone changed to a more pleasant one after that. Next he transferred me to the appointment call center to schedule my first appointment. They didn't have availability for quite a while so I was given the choice of a video appointment. The young lady noticed I didn't live in Hampton so she offered me the choice of a PCP in the city where I lived. She asked what gender doctor I preferred, and gave me a few tips of making some notes for my first appointment so that all my special needs outside of primary care would be referred properly. Lastly today I talked to Irene at the Covid-19 Vaccine call center. Her greeting was phenomenal, friendly, and cheerful. She patiently scheduled my 1st Vaccine shot, ask me what brand shot I wanted, what city I wanted to have it administered, and my preferred time. A very pleasant experience.nnI am not sure what you all are expecting from probably over worked, probably underpaid, and thankless positions from people who may have already served in the Military and now continue to serve their fellow Veterans, but you get what you are expecting.nnIf you call expecting a terrible experience because that's what someone told you would happen, then that's what you are probably going to experience.nnTrust me Civilian Medical centers are no better or worse, just count the blessings of free health care because Civilians have to pay thousands of dollars for the so called terrible service most of you are complaining about.

It took me 40 years to get my benefits but since I have been treated great.

They provide excellent patient care and support. Everyone of the Doctors, Physician Assistants and Nurses, to include the rest of the professional medical team here, strive to give and do succeed, in providing you with the best healthcare services, hands down, bar non in the world. Over the years they have made drastic, and dramatic improvements here at the Hampton Virginia Veterans Hospital. I challenge you, my fellow American Veterans to please give them a chance, by allowing them to, bend over backwards, and completely knock your socks off, with the utmost professional medical care available. I guarantee you, that this ain't our American foremothers and forefathers, type of, despicable, dilapidated and deplorable system of V.A. Healthcare Services of the Vietnam War and days of Yore. They truly honor and respect all of us that have earned; not given; all of the honor, all of the respect and all of the support that you honorably deserve.
