I just adopted a dog from here yesterday and they were so nice and helpful while I was there even with following covid protocols! They gave me coupons to get her some of the basics and a collar to help with her anxiety until she gets used to her new home! They provided a folder for me with all of her vet records and information in it.

The people are professional and polite, with a bright temperament. It was a pleasure to have visited!

Animals are taken care of. Kennels are clean, no smell when you walk in to view the animals. Staff is always friendly.

A year next month we were blessed with Mia. That was the her name at the shelter. Which fit her perfectly. She is from what they say, half beagle and half American Pitbull. I now question if she’s a foxhound instead of the beagle?. But no matter what she is! She has brought us such much joy, laughter and love that I can’t even begin to measure.nShe was locked up in a garage, so skinny that you could see every ribs, one of which was broken from someone taking their anger out on a young pup?!? Her hipbones were visible as was everything else a malnourished dog is when not cared for. I thank the owner for only one thing, and that was the day they brought Mia in to the shelter for someone to adopt. “She is the smartest dog” her daddy says and he calls her his little Princess! She has gone from famine to feast, from dull coat to the shiniest coat I’ve ever seen. I really don’t know how anyone could hurt an animal that continually gives love each and every day of their lives?. But make no mistake, that for as long as she is alive, she will have everything a dog may want!!! I can only hope that if a dog has the capability to remember all the horrible things they have gone through that it can be erased and replaced with the bountiful love we give to them! So, for those people that I’ve seen make negative comments on here about the shelter, shame on you to say anything bad considering what these animals have gone through or how they ended up there. For whatever reason, they have been given a place to come and hopefully fine a home and family that they can have a second or third chance of a new family. And find love! They’re NOT just some object you paid money for! You paid money to cover the cost that multiple people helping care this animal for during a difficult transitioning period at the shelter providing a temporary home that feeds and sometimes has to bring in a vet to undo what others have done to these animals until they find their forever home. They care and yes it’s not always easy to see the ones that don’t get to go home with families. But I’d spend even more is that’s what it took to help a shelter provide care for these animals that don’t have a voice to speak up. They’re not just an animal but an extension of the family. So thank you Fairbanks Animal Shelter for giving hope to all the beautiful and wonderful creatures that God has blessed this world with!! Mia by the way also says thank you. FYI, Mia has gained weight and can no longer see her boney hips. She has bloomed over the past year with so much personality and character that I wonder what the next years will bring. Blessing comes to those that care for the needy. And We are so very blessed to have Mia in Our livesud83dudc97.
