Philomath Fire & Rescue Station 201

My husband and I work for logging companies doing Fire and Equipment Watch year around, and have for 11 years. We have a home in Eugene, Oregon and have lived in that same home for 50 years. However, as part of the job we move anywhere there is work. As of October 11th, our job brought us to the Burnt Woods/Harlan area on Weyerhaeuser land. We live in our 5th wheel on site. We must have water for drinking, dishes, and showers---potable water. Our first stop is always the Fire Department and until yesterday, October 18th, there has never been a problem. Fire departments are always happy to help in any way they can.nnWe use 60 gallons of water once every week to ten days. Only 60 gallons! My husband was given every excuse you can think of. When they said, they have to pay the City for their water, my husband responded with, no problem, I am willing to pay. I am not a freeloader! I am willing to pay my way. They then switched gears. Where are you taking the water. He told them, Burnt Woods/Harlan and then straight up another 17 miles. Their response, you are out of our tax base. WHAT?nnIt hasn't mattered before where we were located, or lived for that matter. What does that have to do with anything??? We are temporarily located in your area. We could be here a month, two, six, or?nnWe spend our money in your community. You would think you would be happy to support us---NOT!!!nnSome gal came in at the same time my husband was there. She barged right up in front of him. And asked if she could get some help lifting something. They were more than happy to help her, why not us?nnI suppose if I drove into your lot needing medical help for my husband, you would say, sorry, you live out of the area?nnPenny & Ken AllmettnEugene, Oregon
