Dr Benton is awful. I have had ongoing issues with my ears, nose, and throat for over 6 years and after looking at each for less than 10 seconds, he told me I was fine and that he can't fix every problem. I had to pry treatment options out of him, and ultimately referred me to a neurologist for treatment, after I repeatedly told him that I was not interested. He’s insanely bland and dismissive, and just an uncomfortable person to be around - I’m glad he “didn’t find any problems” because there’s not a sliver of a chance that I would ever return to him.

All the 1-star reviews worried me, but I figured somebody has to give the guy a chance. Maybe he had some off days, as we all do.nnTurns out the poor reviews weren’t warranted at all. Dr. Benton, though not the most sociable doctor I’ve ever met, was perfectly nice and professional. I think some people just expect perfection from anyone running a business, but guess what: they’re all flawed humans just like the rest of us! As for the negative reviews about the cost - that’s life in America, hombre. Take it up with your politicians. Nick Benton didn’t construct the entire monetized medical machine that runs our lives.nnBottom line: Dr. Benton may be a little more coarse than some doctors, but he knows his stuff and wants to help. You could find someone with a much, much worse disposition to play around with your inner ear.

Dr. Benton took care of a serious bleeding problem for my 98-year-old mother, was kind, considerate and very thorough. He found the source of her problem, fixed it, and after seeing her three times in one week for her course of treatments, he had her well and happy again. She really liked him and I thought he was a fine doctor.

Dr. Benton was very thorough with the medical issue brought up. He was patient, and good with my young daughter as well.

I took my 4 year old son because he had obvious breathing problems and was diagnosed with sleep apnea after an overnight sleep test. His breathing worsened when he had a cold that I would have to take him to sleep in the recliner so he could breathe. His sleep tests results showed that he would quit breathing about 20 times an hour during the night. After this, the pediatrician told me that my son should not be given any cold or allergy medications when he had a cold for fear that he would quit breathing and might die because of the sedating effects of these medicines.nOur Pediatrician referred us to Benton and ordered x-rays of my son's adenoids before we went to see him for possible tonsillectomy and removal of adenoids. Benton wouldn't look at the x-rays and told me that he didn't know why these doctors always order x-rays for him to view since he never looks at them and never bothered to look at the sleep test results either. He told me that my son would grow out of this problem . His advice to me was to quit giving him milk products and keep him out of daycare.nI then self-referred my son to another ENT in Albany who, when we were able to see him, said my son's tonsils were very enlarged and they should probably come out but would need to see x-rays of his adenoids to be able to make a full diagnosis. I retrieved the x-rays from the clinic that Benton refused to view and brought them to the other ENT who said it was obvious why my son couldn't breathe while lying down at night; his adenoids were so enlarged that they were pressing on his windpipe and preventing him from breathing. Vindication, that I wasn't a neurotic mother! My son had his tonsils and adenoids removed by this ENT who has since retired and my son was finally able to breathe at night without being propped up.
