NON STOP FISH! This was probably the best half-day charter I've ever been on. My girlfriend and I met Capt. Tim and his first mate Tyler at the boat slip at 7 am and departed immediately. Capt. Tim had refreshments on board with plenty of room for our own cooler and they both kept their masks on the entire trip which is incredibly important to us NYC residents just coming out of the COVID lock-down. We took a ~20-minute trip out to Capt. Tim's fishing spot and Capt. Tim pointed out all of the houses and historical landmarks along the coastline and had non-stop knowledge on everything. Once we arrived and dropped anchor, the capt. and mate began explaining the fishing gear, and no exaggeration, from the very second the sinker hit the bottom, a large sea bass was on and it continued like that for a solid 2 hours... line down, fish on. line down, fish on. It got to the point where I, a man in my early 30's, started to cramp up with all of the reeling that I was doing to bring the fish in. Throughout the morning, Capt. Tim told his incredible stories that were just as entertaining as the fishing itself. After about 2 hours, I stepped away from the drop line fishing and moved onto the free line for some striped bass and blues. Although there were no keepers, it was fun reeling in a few of the big guys. We returned to the boat slip where Capt. Tim filleted every last fish (more than I can even give away, let alone eat) and gave us his favorite recipes for each species. I almost hesitate writing this review fearing that Capt. Tim will be fully booked the next time we visit Newport as we will most certainly be going out with him again. Strong recommend and worth every cent.

Never made the effort to fish for what we wanted, and asked to target, stripers and tautog. Never rigged for either. Basically go out anchor drop baited hook sit there fish for whatever bites the hook. Anyone can catch blues and scup. Not what we paid $ 600 for. Like how about use fish finder to check structure look for game fish like stripers or troll(use gas) for stripers?
