Dr. Edred V. Shen, MD

After my long term GP retired during the pandemic, I had switched over to Dr. Shen. I have now been a patient of his for about 7 months (time flies). Since being under his care, I had been bitten by something on my leg back in June/July and had a severe reaction. It was really really bad. I was so sick and super scared. Dr. Shen literally took a frantic call from me on July 4th. I couldn't believe he got right back to me and on a holiday. Long story short, he saved my leg. Cut to three months later, I managed to get a severe second degree burn on the same leg, which became very infected. Again, Dr. Shen took a look at it, assured me I wasn't going to lose my leg & helped me along the healing process. What a year 2020 was. I'm a 42 year old female, who is severely accident prone and always sick or injured, especially on weekends, holidays & during blizzards ud83cudf89.nnFor me, Dr. Shen has been more than accommodating. He always gets back to me & I actually really like his personality. I feel like he definitely knows what he is doing (this is most important, of course) & he has the best interest of his patients at heart. As someone who is always sick & injured, I was very close with my former GP and was heart broken when he rightfully so had to retire. I never thought I'd find a new GP that I liked; but I did & he's Dr. Shen.nnIn my experience, his front desk staff/PA's have been friendly and accommodating; especially given how busy they are. They do a lot more than answer calls, it's a lot of work. I have never had a bad experience with them.nnDr. Shen is easy to reach, nice, caring and I think he has a good sense of humor too. I don't trust a lot of doctors, as I feel they are typically very rushed. I actually trust Dr. Shen. He saved my leg from some serious stuff twice & has been more than accommodating when I need to reach him. Personally, I'm happy to have him & would recommend Dr. Shen and his practice.

Dr.Shen is most care Doctor I ever visited. He sent 30 minutes with me, ask all the detail. It is hard to find a Doctor as he does now.

Dr Shen is a very thorough and informative physician. He's also is easy to talk to and do not hold back when you do not follow your medical requirements. He's not a pill pusher who want to just prescribe medications. He makes suggestions on how natural remedies such as diet changes and exercise can also aide in your well being. He takes the time personally to call you regarding your blood work, even at night. He also take you on time. I recommend him.

Dr Shen really cares, he has helped me many times over the years.

Run away as fast as you can! He has a horrible bedside manner with a very pompous judgmental attitude. Zero professionalism and even has vindictive tendencies, calling medication my daughters medication into a closed pharmacy in another county, that wasn’t even close to the hospital or her town.(she lives in ScotchPlains and he called a pharmacy late Saturday afternoon that was closing until Monday, located in Bloomfield) Before that, he totally ignored her plea for help figuring out why she’s unable to keep food or drink down. Ignored calls from the nurses at the hospital for 6 hours where he disappeared. Finally when they reached him, he literally screamed at her over the phone and sent her home without any tests knowing she was still was unable to drink or eat anything for the past week. She’s going to another hospital for help now. I’ve never met a doctor who was so cruel and inhumane. He didn’t even call in the medicine for her nerve pain that he said he would(Gabapentin) knowing she’s having a fibromyalgia flareup. Very cruel and spiteful. We will be filing a complaint with the state and the hospital.
