They are crooks. I'm filing a complaint with the better business bureau and the insurance commissioner. They take advantage of people that dont understand insurance to over sell them on insurance that isnt required. When they were asked if a coverage was required by the state they said it was. Make sure you understand your rights and what are the state requirements for insurance. If you want the extra coverage awesome but when you ask an insurance agent a question and they lie for their own personal gain that's illegal.
