It's a great out of the way peaceful hike. Not alot of people go here you can just breathe and relax.

Incredible and worthy undertaking for restoring the grasslands back to before we progressed. The trails are nice and take you out across the entire expanse. We strongly recommend starting at the visitor center for your first visit. They also have a viewing station inside for the bald eagle nest across Rt 53. The past collides with the present as you take in the grasslands restoration, farm lands and vacant WWII explosives storage bunkers . This little Illinois oasis just south of Chicago and Joliet makes me proud of the foresight to bring this to reality. Bring comfortable clothes, shoes, or your bike and plenty of water and enjoy some tranquility.

Always impressed by this parkland....wish they had more guided tours. So much to learn there.

Very helpful and informative staff. Suggested what trails I could go to and what's there to see. Bisons have their calves these days which I couldn't visit as it was gonna rain soon and its about 1.5 mile trail each way. Will definitely try going again.
