Holiday Inn Express Chicago-Palatine/N Arlngtn Hts

Hard to find location. Front desk staff was indifferent on both check-in and check-out. Room and public areas were worn, tired and dirty. Skimpy with amenities and many missing (so had to have sent up to room). First floor window wouldn’t lock shut - a big security issue. Complimentary breakfast was decent, and bed gave a good night’s sleep. I overheard the place is closing soon - probably a good idea. It was one of the worst HIE I have stayed in, but still serviceable.

They have a nice makeover and try very hard. The breakfast was the best thing about our stay. Great variety and well kept.nnThe large pool, hot tub and steam room are pretty good but basically located on the attached neighbor property, which is very convoluted to get to and easy to get lost.nnThe rooms / beds are nice but it's hard to hide the fact that this hotel is an old property. The rooms are very cramped which I would expect in Chicago but this is the suburbs.nnThe elevators are slow and smelly and kind of scary, the worst part of our one night stay. They would earn an extra star if the elevators were modernized.nnI hate to be so harsh but we almost canceled and would not stay there again. The competition is so good, the bar has been raised.

It's closed y'all, looks like a year ago to date but looking at the surrounding area it looks like it's been closed much longer

This is my third year booking this facility for my students annual basketball tournament. This, by far, has been the worst experience. First, upon arrival, we were told we didn't book eleven rooms and had to provide documentation to prove such. Next, we were told there was no shuttle service because of low occupancy. When I spoke with the manager on duty, she had a different story and stated they never provide shuttle service on the weekend. This was definitely not the truth as we've used this facility three years in a row AND the website states the hotel has shuttle service. We ALWAYS have shuttle service to the tournament and back to the hotel. If they're was no shuttle service this weekend, it should have been communicated when booking the room as they knew why were were staying at their facility. This was a HUGE inconvenience as I had to request three uber drivers to transport all of my students and the equipment for the basketball tournament. The manager only apologized but made no arrangements to transport my students. Also, I had to go to the front desk to get my own towels as there was no one to bring them to the room. This is A REAL INCONVENIENCE WHEN YOU GET OUT THE SHOWER NEEDING A DRY TOWEL! I had to dry off with a small washcloth walk downstairs to get clean towels. I am a GROWN WOMAN using a WASHCLOTH to DRY MY ENTIRE BODY! I was appalled because of the amount of money we spend with this facility. This will be the last time I book this facility for our annual tournament or for anything!! Highly upset!

Stayed two night while exploring the city during the day.nnKids had plenty of fun. There is an attached fitness center which has a VERY large pool/hot tub... plus they had a sauna.. loved it. A bit dated but it definitely got the job done.nnBreakfast was what we come to expect from IHG properties. Very nice.nnIf I’m the area we will definitely stay again.nnThanks IHG.
