Courtyard by Marriott Charleston Waterfront

Good views of the water. Nice breeze compared to downtown. Both had breezes, but more consistent on river side. Bus stop close by and free. Claims 45 minutes to downtown, but closer to 25 minutes during the week during the day as some stops skipped if nobody waiting. Walking is also possible in 20-30 minutes or 40 by Google. Stayed here as much cheaper than downtown and we are avid walkers.

Love this hotel and location. Their courtyard pool area is just absolutely beautiful. You are right on the marina and you can watch the sunset. they have a very large variety of different seating options comfy lounge chairs. The pool area looks very pretty at night time as well its lit up nice. Rooms clean. The beds are amazing. Nice large tv. Staff very nice. This was my second time and I will stay each time I am in town. Parking only $8 which is very affordable.

My wife and I were guests in mid March with plans to stay two nights. We were extremely disappointed in this property for numerous reasons. First, the facility is way past due for remodeling. It appears to have been neglected for quite some time. I'd normally blame the pandemic, but this facility needs painting, wall paper and carpet in our guest room and all common areas and the garage was simply filthy. Mattress was also needing replacement. Although a Marriott Rewards Titanium Elite member, there was no recognition of this and no provision of breakfast. Management in this property is also problematic and unusually poor given Marriott standards. Because of our experience, we decided to check out after one day. The front desk was unable to provide a printed bill and I said that was OK as they normally send them out via email very promptly. When I finally got the email, I had been charged for two nights. I called and was assured that the error would be fixed. It wasn't so I called a second time. I was on hold for more than 13 minutes. Again, I was promised a refund. I'm counting on it this time. Meanwhile, this property is representative of a general decline in tourism properties in Charleston. This city has been a favorite for more than 30 years, but we won't be returning. Taxes for our stay were 15.6% and we paid $8 for parking despite the hotel being well outside the historic district. Nearby Savannah, Georgia, on the other hand (a similar destination and also a favorite) has numerous extremely well-maintained and operated Marriott properties as well as a vibrant and welcoming vibe. The people, the view and the rooms make this a wonderful place to stay. The people were so helpful and most importantly friendly it made our visit memorable. If you are heading to Charleston definitely consider coming here. Breakfast and dinner was delicious!

Great hotel we always try to find a courtyard when were staying out of town. Staff is always wonderful and hotels are always very clean. Keep up the great standards across all the hotels.
