The dispatchers are always SO sweet and they send someone out within 15 minutes. I am very impressed!
I was concerned about a possible case of animal neglect in my neighborhood. I contacted Charleston Animal Society and they directed me to call animal control. There were so many negative reviews about them that I hesitated to call for a couple of days, thinking nothing would come of it. Today I decided to call anyway. The lady I spoke to was very polite and offered to have a deputy call and give me an update on the dog. Not even 30 mins later a very nice deputy called and assured me that the dog had plenty of adequate shelter (with hay), food, water, and has a nice thick coat (so he seems healthy). She said she voiced her concerns but that was all she could legally do as the dog appeared to be careful for and happy enough. I'm extremely relieved to know this dog has shelter in this cold weather, and I'm very glad I didn't listen to all the negative reviews and reached out to Charleston Animal Control.
The only public service department worse than Charleston Animal Control is Charleston Water. These departments have had a substantial increase in tax revenue in the last 10 years and their services have only gotten worse. The incompetence is unbelievable and people should be fired.
The dispatcher was extremely friendly and helpful!
They take way to long to get to location, by the time they arrive the animal is gone! I have had to call on two separate occasions, both times it took 3+ hrs for someone to show up and still didn’t get the animal.
