James Island Cleaners

My dry cleaners has closed so I chose to try out James Island Cleaners. Comfortable environment with quick friendly professional service. I will be picking up my dry cleaning on Wednesday an I am confident they will have taken care of my clothes. Definatly a high step up from the last one I went to for years. I did not know any others were different. Shockingly, there is a big difference in customer service and kindness. I have found my new long term dry cleaners!

James Island Cleaners on Maybank Highway on James Island is one of my favorite places for dry cleaning in the area. They make everything very easy to do and the process is quick when you need something done on a schedule. The staff here is very helpful and accommodating and I have had a good experience every time I have been here.

I took in several items to get cleaned and my $100 white sweater (that I had worn twice and only took to get cleaned because a dog jumped on me and had a dirt stain on the front) came back covered in a yellow stain. They didn't mention it when I picked it up and once I noticed it and took it back to get cleaned again they informed me that the stain probably wouldn't come out. They cleaned it again and the stain is permanent. I just wish I had been told about the stain and that there had been some type of compensation for ruining a $100 sweater...

Very unhappy that my dry cleaning came back with hair all over it. Even more unhappy that the lady working the front counter was not wearing a mask during COVID. Won’t be going back to them.

3 times over the last 2-3 months I have dropped off laundry that came back with stains that the laundering process left on my shirts. My travel schedule did not allow to me to bring the clothes back because I discovered this on a Sunday as I was packing to leave on a Monday. I never looked at the shirts until I pulled them out of the closet to pack for my trip. I ended having to treat the stains myself and rewashing & ironing the shirts.nnA week ago, similar deal, I had picked up 6 shirts a week earlier and left them in the closet until I had to pack for a trip. When I unwrapped the clothes I discovered 3 of 6 shirts again had stains on them that were not from me, but were from the laundry equipment.nnI brought the clothes back in and the immediate response from them was not what I would describe as apologetic. I explained that I was leaving the next morning and the response I got was ‘well if your expectation is to get these back tomorrow, that’s not going to happen’. Then the person who I can only assume is the owner or one of the owners did come up and apologize and said that the equipment is ‘old’ and does this sometimes and offered to credit me back $12 for the 3 stained shirts. I again treated, washed, ironed the clothes myself, but one shirt is ruined so I had to go to buy a new shirt to replace it.nnI have been going to this cleaners for 8 years, since they were in the shopping center next to the Pig. I am not sure if there is new ownership but I never once had this problem until recently. I am going to take my business elsewhere, where I don’t have to check my clothes for stains that I didn’t put there and end up having to wash their stains out because I need them back quickly, or worse my clothes end up ruined.
