Beautiful, scenic, historic. Get there early and watch the elk graze in the fields and on the roadside. Parking fills up quick.
The view of the elk were amazing! The rules stated stay 50 yards away from the elk for our own safety but while we were walking on the nature trail they walked right up to us. We kept our distance and were able to see the mother and its children walk over to get a drink. It really was cool too see so close up and I never realized how big they were until we were so close. Truly unforgettable experience!
This place is so beautiful and the elk came out when we drove by so we stopped and got a closer look it was a wonderful experience
All the GSMNP Visitor Centers are worth your time.
We stopped here on vacation to watch the elk population that was passing through. They seems to make frequent visits here and are almost always in the fields around here morning or evening. Quite a sight to see living down south but they were and are native to the area.
