I chose Dr. Harrison for convenience, as there aren't usually many options for specialists in Reidsville. I had previously seen him for a knee problem. This time, I saw him for another issue and his bedside manner was a factor. He did merge practices during my last round of visits, so that can be hectic. However, his office staff before and after were terrific. They work hard, they are kind, and truly concerned about their customers-the patients. Dr Harrison gave me a cortisone shot for my Achilles heel, which is generally not recommended. I had been through unsuccessful physical therapy. After the shot was unsuccessful, he told me he was ordering an MRI to preare for surgery. However, after waiting another month to get the result, he came in, looked at my study, and ordered oral prednisone. He gave no good explanation, which to me would be showing me on a model or x-ray picture what is happening inside my body. At every visit, his nurse was short, and they never gave clear details or went over their directions for what they were doing or ordering. This was consistent, and I had to call back to learn if my activity was to be limited, and for how often/during which activities I was supposed to use an assistive device. Overall, communication between the medical staff, Dr Harrison, and patients seem to be awful. Imagine having a really serious orthopedic need and not getting printed or spoken directions about caring for yourself. If that doesn't work for you, look to Greensboro or elsewhere for care.
