I called Banfield hospital (Feb. 23, morning in Wilmington , North Carolina (New Centre Drive) to see about getting an appointment, because I knew that my dog was going downhill, in fact she was dying. They got me in for 3. I went in with my son, and they took my dog, and a few minutes later, the Dr. Elinor Hart came out and told me that she was dehydrated and had dental problems, and arthritis. I already knew this, and she told me that if that was her dog, that she would go ahead and get all the testing done, which would cost me a lot of money, and I declined because I knew that my dog was dying, because she is 18 years old. So, I feel that she was trying to make me feel guilty, if I didn't run all those tests on my dog and pay a bunch of money for something that I knew was not going to work for my dog.nDr. ELINOR HART, did however, convince me to pay out $140 for intravenous liquids, to help her with her dehydration. Which in the long run did not help because she died anyways. So she did get money off of me anyways. My initial quote on them just going in there to look at her was $48, and I ended up spending well over $200.nDr. Elinor Hart sent me home with my dog, and I went and got the prescriptions, which cost me over $70. And even though I knew my dog was dying, I KNOW that the doctor knew my dog was dying, yet they sent me home with her and did not even give me a choice to have her put down so she would not suffer anymore.5 hours later, she died on front of me.nFirst of all, the doctor tried to give me to pay extra money for test that I knew was irrelevant with an 18 year old very very sick dog. Then, they never gave me a choice to have her put down. My main intention of going there yesterday was to not bring her home, because I did not want her to suffer, they did not give me that choice and after that it is very wrong and something needs to be done about their practice ethics.nAlso, the next morning, I talked to the manager then filled, and told her what happened, and she said that if I filed a complaint, that it would come back to her anyways. So I was very disturbed about that.
Vets are great and understanding. Everyone else is rude. We called about our sick dog. They put me on hold for 25 minutes and then told me they had nothing until after Christmas and call back then. She didn't ask anything about the dog and blew us off. The next day, our dog was worse so we called again. We were able to get right in. When my wife brought our dog in, they were rude, short and condescending to her. We are now considering canceling our Banfield Plan.
Today was horrible at Banfield. One sales associate that was interrupted three times during a simple transaction! She left me hanging while she addressed each little inquiry...leaving me just standing there wondering what the heck is going on....She was not friendly, did not speak up thru her mask and addressed me with her head towards the desk! I guess good help is hard to find in Wilmington!
Love the wellness plan that they offer. It helps cover alot of preventive care that helped me save alot of money in the long run. Staff is nice and well organized. They took good care of my dog and it only took 30 mins!
Took puppy for first shots, tor nails clipped, and general check up. Great handling of new puppy and recommend upcoming preventative treatments.
