My five children have been going to Dental Derby since it opened. This is an exceptional practice staffed with professionals who are invested in their patients and love children. They have always been honest and caring, and they have only recommended treatment that was absolutely necessary. My adult, married children are now taking their own children to this wonderful practice. All of my children would have loved to stay with the Dental Derby team through adulthood if possible! I wish I could give it more stars!!!!!
I’m not one to quickly trust a dentist for my family since I have had bad experiences before, but I’m happy to say Dr. Cangas has been extremely supportive and informative throughout my experience with Dental Derby. You can tell he is a seasoned practitioner and cares about his patients. From fielding my calls during a dental emergency situation to going in detail about treatments, I’m very glad to have found this office.
Great office. Fun for kids and the staff is AMAZING!! I would recommend this dentist to anyone with children!!
We have literally been to dentists all over the country, as we move a lot for work. This is hands down the least professional dentist we have ever seen. He is smooth talking and condescending and every single parent who I’ve ever talked to that goes there (even the ones who LOVE him) seems to have a kid who needs dental work that other dentists don’t recommend but is expensive. He recommended some things to us and everything was a lecture. Even x rays, which I told him that every other dentist we had ever seen agreed was unnecessary on a 3.5 year old and he lectured me that I wasn’t letting him do his job fully. It was all I could do to finish the appointment bc I literally knew he was just making up a list of things (expenses) he could recommend for my child. Not only has no other dentist ever recommended half the things he does for kids, but when I’ve asked other dentists about some of the things he said and they were shocked. He said my son had a major cross bite at 3.5 and would “have Michael Strahan teeth” as a grown up and he would definitely need orthodontic work early and probably again later. We said he had a severe lip and tongue tie. Guess what? He doesn’t. And 3 subsequent dentists were all baffled by this. And his grown up teeth? He’s outgrown the cross bite and there’s no front gap. He presents himself as an expert and while I will agree he puts kids at ease and the theme of his office is fun albeit odd, I am actually shocked by his 5 star reviews because many people I’ve talked to have and “very bad experiences” with him as well.
My initial experience was good when I only had my son going to the office about three years ago. Not sure what changed. Not sure if it’s Covid or they have a staff change. More and more rules. Siblings are not allow in the treatment room (not sure the reason could be a safety thing but don’t know). Their appointment system sucked so I had to opt out text message for appointment reminder because at one point I was getting two different texts to remind me of my kids appointment with different time and date!!!! I called to ask to fix it they couldn’t figure out what the problem is (WHAT???) that’s just mind blowing to me. I used to work at a doctor’s office you will know everything in the office you use. Then it’s their phone. You need to call to check in due to Covid. Cool. But their phone is alway always busy!!! Like a business didn’t have a call waiting service? I don’t get it. Just signed another form to inform me that if I don’t call to cancel my appointment it’s $50. If I use their service after hours ie emergency it’s $150 more. Maybe because I used to work at a doctors office I expect more out of a service I received I don’t know. But it’s really not for me. I get upset almost every time go in to their office now. There’s always something. Yes it’s cool they cater their decorating, their derby dollar for kids but I can go without those things but just a better customer service and better organization.
