Allergy & Asthma Specialty

First, I will share the positives about this place. Denise was always very kind and understanding on the phone. Doctor Covington was nice enough when we had our Telemedicine appointment with him for an initial visit. Now for the negatives. My daughter had her initial appointment in April of this year. Dr. Covington sent us to get blood work done for a blood allergy test because they were not doing skin tests in the office due to Covid. We tried to get my daughter's blood drawn, but it was not successful and was very traumatic as she was only a year old. I called his office to tell them that I wanted to wait until they resumed skin tests in the office. The lady (not Denise) told me that she would put us on a list and notify us when they started doing skin tests again. After not hearing anything for several months, I called the office in August and left a message (it was during their posted hours). I never received a call back. I called again in September and spoke to Denise. She informed me that they were doing skin tests now and we made an appointment for November. One week before my daughter's November appointment I received a call stating that Dr. Covington wasn't going to be in the office on the day of our appointment and we needed to reschedule. I received a new appointment for December. I received a call one day before our scheduled appointment in December stating that they were short staffed and they would need to reschedule, with the first available in-office appointment being in January or I could have a Telemedicine appointment later in the week. By this time, my daughter had another allergic reaction, different than previous ones, where we were unsure of the cause. Our Pediatrician was waiting on results of the allergy test to move forward with anything. I was able to call another Allergy doctor and get an appointment (for an allergy test) the following week. I will never go back to Dr. Covington's office and I do not recommend anyone go to this practice.

I had testing performed years ago and am thankful that they were able to identify life threatening triggers. In the long run though, I wish they had informed me of the dietary needs I would face at the end of my appointment. As an adult, I have a calcium deficiency because of my avoided allergies. Way to drop the ball guys.

I've been a patient of Doctor Covington's for about six months and am in their allergy shot program. I've received allergy shots twice per week for the past several months (build up phase), and the office has never been closed during normal posted hours as another reviewer noted. I've been very pleased with Dr. Covington's knowledge, caring attitude and kindness. The staff have all been great to work with and I'm looking forward to reduced/eliminated allergy symptoms.

Great place and great doctor and staff. I highly recommend him for Asthma problems

While Denise is very sweet it can’t make up for how much time I have wasted with this doctor. I have shown up for an appointment and found the office closed. No call, no text, no notice at all. I have had them call to reschedule an appointment an hour before my original appointment and when I arrive for the rescheduled appointment, I sit in a room for an hour and a half before having to leave without ever seeing the doctor. I had an appointment where I arrived on time and sat in the room for nearly two hours only to be told the doctor had left for the day, again without seeing me. I will be looking for an allergist in Raleigh. Even though I will be driving 20 miles I will probably be saving time.
