This is a very interesting store with beautiful furniture and antiques. But the customer service is horrible. Especially considering purchasing full sized couch and leather rocker love seat(in last 3 weeks). Both of which I love by the way. Unfortunately the customer service has a lot left to be desired. Same employee, man maybe in early 50s, has horrible customer service skills. Which is very unfortunate for local people that enjoy spending money in our community. I will never purchase another item from this store. Bless your heart. And have a Merry Christmas ud83cudf84
My new favorite place to go when I want to find out of the ordinary home decor and furniture as well as gifts for my loves and maybe even for myself every once in a while.
I have shopped at Riverside since they first opened. I have purchased many, many items from them over the years. I have never been satisfied with the man who runs the antique side checkout counter. He has a very dry personality. But, I have always let it slide. Well, about a month ago, I purchased some Waterford crystal glasses from one of the booths. The price was really too high, but I wanted them so I bought them anyway. She had a set of six I could get or a set of five. I already had some at home, so I chose to get the set of five. When I got them home, I realized the ones I had just purchased were slightly smaller than the ones I already had. I decided I wanted to get one more smaller one to complete my set. I figured I would go back in and buy one more paying the difference in the price between the set of five and six. Well, boy was I mistaken. When I took the glass to the checkout counter, I asked the man if I could buy just this one and pay the price I would’ve paid to begin with if I had bought the set of six. He got an attitude and called the lady who’s both they were in. He continues to carry on a conversation with her right in front of me questioning why I didn’t buy the set of six to begin with and saying very rudely “I know” when the lady got bent out of shape as to why I would want to buy one more glass. I thought she would’ve been happy to make a sale. It’s a good thing I really wanted the glass, or I would’ve dropped it and walked out. She said she would sell me the glass for way more than I could’ve paid elsewhere. I said fine and bought it. That will be my last purchase at Riverside Mill and I will encourage anyone who asks me about my collection not to shop there. They should be happy to make sales not make you feel like they are doing you a favor when you shop there. I will not support these business practices when I can go elsewhere and be treated like royalty just for stopping by a store that is happy to see a customer. As for the selection of “antiques,” it is very disappointing. 85% of the booths are filled with junk and the few booths with semi-decent items are operated by the lady described above. If you want to find a wonderful selection of antiques in Roanoke Rapids with friendly service, go the opposite direction and check out Pepper and Doughties in Roanoke Ave.
This old mill has been well converted to an antique and craft mall. The vendor spaces are set up well. There's a great mix of antique and new crafts. There's an entire floor for Christmas decorations and such. The main area is wide open and well lit. The staff was very pleasant and very helpful.
This place had quite a variety of things, new and old. Lots of clothing, tons of newish furniture and accessories, building materials, thrift shop and antiques. Lots of parking but not necessarily for RVs. We parked along the road as the entrance and exit to the parking lot has accessibility limitations for larger RVs.nn~~Please give this review the THUMBS UP if it helped you find out more about this location. Thank you!~~
