This is the best small park anywhere in this part of Louisiana. The trails were nice, and we saw a beautiful lunar moth. I did feel sad seeing the aviary. The birds were beyond gorgeous, and I enjoyed seeing them up close: an eagle, owls, peregrine falcon, etc. But their cages were so small and didn’t contain much in the way of toys or plants. I assume the park just can’t afford to do more. I believe they are all rescues. The sign by the eagle’s cage mentioned this.
We enjoyed the park. Visitor center was closed for covid but restrooms were open. The aviary was the highlight with American Bald Eagle and different species of owls.
Great for a peaceful walk in nature. Unusually quiet aside for a few birds in the distance.
Great place to hike , walk your dog. See the beautiful birds. Just an all round awesome family time all year .
A couple hour adventure. Wear bug spray
