The Tunnel Springs Park in North Salt Lake is a nice little park that offers a great space for children of all ages to play and walk around the park, but the real treasure of the park is that it is the gate to dozens of hiking trails! You can choose a different trail or path for 2 weeks without repeating the same trail twice. You can hike for 30 mites but you can also hike for 3 to 5 hours if you choose the large loops. You can easily walk all the way to Salt Lake City following the Bonneville Shoreline Trails. These trails are great for hiking and mountain biking. The biking path is especially beautiful throughout the year as it offers a meandering path following a narrow small valley with trees right and left. It is specially beautiful in the Spring and Autumn.
SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE. I like (actually "love" is really a more appropriate term) this park for its diversity. They've got tennis courts, pavilion, playground, grassy field areas, and that's just a tiny portion. Keep walking on the path and you'll find tall reeds and a wooden fence (great for taking pictures) and then a wild grassy area (also great for pictures). And THEN, even more - the myriad of gorgeous trails leading up through the hills, including the main Bonneville Shoreline Trail.
I've come trail running here, taken someone's family pictures, and brought my own family to go on hikes. Beautiful views of the valley and the hills. A few miles up and you can see downtown Salt Lake City, Salt Lake Valley AND Davis County.
Love the playground in the mountains right by a beautiful hike! Fun little tree cave and stream!
Neat little park with a playground, grass field, and walking paths. Also a pavilion with tables, water fountains, and a bathroom. Bonneville Shoreline Trail is close by. The view of the valley was less impressive than I expected, but the air is definitely cooler up there.
Super fun and kids had a blast, didn't see a tunnel though.
