Road is closed, we paid for reservation at the waterfall a month ago, only to find out nobody can get there, have to park miles away and walk there.. permit is non refundable too.. waste your money, waste your time, and definitely waste 3 hours of driving. Poor kid, poor dog, come all this way only to be met with a locked gate and a useless permit pass.

I LOVE this spot! With it's 16 foot deep swimming hole, long stretch of open water, multiple flat spots to have a picnic and having it far enough from the main spot most time my friends and I have the place to ourselves! Even this last time, when there where over a dozen people there we still felt like we had space to breathe! ❤❤❤

In love with this place! It is truly a paradise in Arizona and I wish we could've stayed for longer! Tonto Bench is best suited for families. Waterfall Trailhead is not far from Tonto Bench so a lot of people get permits for Tonto Bench parking and hike to Waterfall Trailhead. It was great because it was us and two other families so no crowds. To get down to the water you do have to go down a steep hill. Please wear some sort of water shoes. It is all rocks. You must have a permit for this place! There is a gate with park rangers who check your paperwork. The road to get to Fossil Creek from Strawberry will close permanently so you have to take the other road that leads into Fossil Creek, which is dangerous. Like others have said it's a rocky road and it took us 45 minutes to get to the gate, maybe longer. There are bathrooms and you must take your trash. We took a backpack cooler to make things easy and had lunch on a rock that was in the water. Overall, amazing experience and will return whenever we head back to Arizona for a visit!

1. First of all this place has no wonders.... there is a waterfall but the way to reach over there is difficult.n2. You will need a off road vehiclenYour vehicle will be in very bad condition after the trip because the road condition is very badn3. The 14 mile off road is full of stones and pot holes.n4. Dont wash your car because after the trip your car will be all white cover with sand.n5. The lake is dangerous for everyone because it is randomly shallow and deep everywhere. If you don't know how to swim. Dont go.n6. Just be careful.
