Granite Mountain backpacking tripnIt was 5 miles up the mountain, 5 miles back and you have to carry her own water. We brought 8 L of water for the three of us staying overnight but 10 L would have been better. The hike up was moderate to easy, we did it in hiking sandals but running shoes will do just fine. We camped near the top of the mountain on a slab of granite overlooking the valley below. The views were incredible and the evening was not cold for being October 1.nFull review on episode 3 @bc_superfoods

Went looking for the summit of Granite Mountain. Trail 261 was easy to find. The parking lot has restrooms and water. About 4.6 miles on a relatively easy grade, until you get to the cattle gate. Then, it’s switchbacks and great views. Take more water than necessary. Did I say, take more water? Take more water.nI was pleased to find that the park had one of three natural lakes in Yavapai county. Lots of picnic space. I plan to visit often.
