More technical hike than I thought, 1st part easy, then you come to a cable latter to climb up the side of canyon. Then walk along a cliff and you hit the end for an amazing view! Then you go back the same way, going down ladder is harder than going up.

This trail was great. Most people will easily be able to complete this trail, but if you are elderly you may want to reconsider because of the ladder, but I did see several young elementary school kids go up or down the ladder.nnThe view is fantastic from the top of the trail.

Awesome vista of the eroding landscape, formations, and landscape to the distant horizon beyond! Wildlife is surpisingly abundant here. Fun ladder to climb and a narrow foot trail to walk along the cliffside. Worth a stop if you're in the area!

If you only do 1 hike in the Badlands National Park... Make it this one, it's a moderate trail, in my opinion, but then again. I'm from Ohio and don't hike.. but this trail was beautiful! And the stunning view at the end.. breathless. It was fun climbing the ladder up the side, I loved and so did our kids!

I hiked it in 92 degree heat, and definitely needed all the water in my Camelback, but the experience and scenery were worth the heat! The first 1/3 of the hike is pretty easy, until you reach the ladder up the cliff face. It's not so hard to make it up the ladder, I walked up it, but it expels a lot of energy, and heats you up. The rest of the trail gets rougher after that, as your up on the ledge and it's up and down, and sharp angles with most steps. Definitely recomend hiking boots! We went about 3 pm, which turned out to be a blessing, as the cliff wall on your West, allowed some shade spots to stop and get relief from the sun. The final point is an awesome over look, then back the same trail. Going down the ladder is worse than up. Most everybody I saw went down backwards. I found it easier to hang on to the metal cables on the sides rather than the log rungs, as they were taught, and gave a positive hand hold with significantly better grip. When you get 2/3 of the way down it's not steep anymore and you can stand up and turn around and walk down if you feel comfortable with that. Enjoy the hike!!
