Monterey Ballroom

I recently had my wedding reception there. Mike was very organized and meticulous when it came to the contract and preparations for my wedding. When the day came, everything ran super smooth! He had all 225 guests through the buffet in 15 minutes-everything was delicious. I had many people say how good it was! The only small negative was that he was very apprehensive and nervous about the number of kids invited to the wedding, which there was around fifty 10 and under-however, he’s been burned in the past, so he’s just very cautious and upfront about expectations. The kids did just fine and the night was perfect, I owe it all to Mike and his organizational efforts!

Great place to have a wedding reception! Staff were kind and courteous. Everyone was through the buffet line in under 25 minutes. Easy to set up and take down our decorations. Large venue to have a lot of guests without being overcrowded. The food was awesome. Very happy with our decision!

If I could give 0 stars I would. We were trying to enjoy my cousins wedding, the owner was rude and disrespectful. Yelling at kids. Yelling at adults. Do not recommend this “venue” what so ever. We will NOT be back.

Charming building. Weird owner doesn't have great people skills and the place smells like dusty rodent urine. I visited for a family wedding event and was told not to let my young child take his shoes off or let him run free inside the building.

Our daughter's wedding reception was recently held at the Monterey Ballroom near Owatonna. Since she was living in AZ the challenge was to coordinate an event and involve venue, parents, and engaged couple.nDenyse and Mike were incredibly thoughtful and flexible in meeting times, and they communicated often with all of us via email. Some highlights for us concerning the experience:n*The chef prepared menu samples and suggested meal options to fit our theme.n*Email communication was efficient and relevant making decorating the day before the reception worry-free and FUN!n*The venue looked incredible BEFORE we added our personal touches.n*Denyse was supportive during setup - always there if we had a question.n*Mike, the Monterey DJ, kept the evening moving along - from 4-11:30 pm. with tasteful activities and an awesome mix of music. He was tuned in and kept people on the dance floor until the end of the evening. Many, many guests stayed until the end.n*Guests commented positively on the beautiful atmosphere and what a good time they had.n*Cleanup after the reception was quick and we never felt pressure to hurry - allowing us to reflect and end the evening on a positive note.nnI would choose the Monterey Ballroom again without question. I have never planned an event like this and was apprehensive in being able to put it all together. Without the help of Denyse and Mike it would not have been as successful. I'm grateful they were part of this special day!
