This neighborhood has always been home to immigrants. 100 or so years ago the majority of those immigrants were Scandinavians. It is next to Mindekirken the historic Norwegian Lutheran Memorial Church and not far from the American Swedish Institute so having a Norwegian cultural center has been a welcome addition and grounding for me personally to have a connection to Norway so close to home. The building is being expanded and I believe was built to be LEED certified.

Came to see the gingerbread house exhibit, bring your kids and kids at heart! I couldn't believe how intricate and detailed you could make a gingerbread house, castle, lighthouse, cathedral e.t.c until I came here. Absolutely stunning. Don't miss it, especially if you're just passing Franklin and Chicago. There's free parking and a cafe too!

Cool place. Been there for the gingerbread competition and it was quite fun!

A fun place to check out. It's currently a small venue that has a room for exhibits and a small coffee bar with gift shop. They offer events and other fun adventures but otherwise it's not some place that you can spend a long time at. An hour might be a long stay from an exhibit stand point.nStill it's cool to see these types of places celebrating our Norwegian, Scandinavian etc. Hererige.nnThe facility will be expanded in the fall of next year. It's a lovely place as is but I'm excited to see its renovation. The staff here were very kind and friendly also.
