I'm in love with this flag but also with the little homespun company who've not only perfected the flag itself, but have really put this unique flag back on the map. So much so, there is action in our state legislature to bring it back as our official flag. The flag is made well. I picked mine up at their shop since I live nearby and can vouch that they are made and sewn individually. The star and the tree are both custom cut piece and sewn onto both sides. I live facing some heavy north winds up on a hill in Portland, Maine, and it's held up extremely well. The owner suggested I purchase a smaller one for the space I was hanging it in, so I appreciated not being pushed toward the larger, slightly more expensive flag. However, I've since decided I'd like a larger one and just ordered it. This small business also owns the start-up company 'Original Maine'. Maine is my adopted home state and I love that there's a business that exists to help market the pride and uniqueness of this beautiful state. - These flags have become crazy popular and one relative in Louisiana loves this so much, he had me send one down to fly in his backyard. I really love the flag and the little company that's helped bring it back to life and is bringing it to the world.

Very disappointed with this company. Vexillology is a hobby of mine and I have wanted a 1901 Maine flag for a while. I nearly bought a cheap Amazon flag a number of times but wanted to wait and get one from Maine Flag Company. My wife bought a flag for me as a Christmas present. When it was flying I noticed that they had sewn the star upside down with two points going toward the top of the flag. My wife emailed the company to let them know the star was not the way it is oriented in the pictures on the website and to ask for a replacement with a star with one point at the top. We were told that they sew them all by hand that the “don’t do them all the same way” and the we could get a replacement if it was “bothering” us. First, I have not seen one example of a 1901 flag that has a star in that orientation. Second, there are only 2 aspects to the flag, the star and the pine tree. How on earth can someone not notice that the star is different than advertised when it is being sewn on by hand and it’s one of only two pieces that actually get sewn on?! To top it all off, we still have not received a replacement or instructions on how to obtain one. Do yourself a favor, save the money, buy a knock off. For $70 you would think that you’d get a quality product. I’m just glad we didn’t get the $110 flag.
