I am a truck driver and not home to bake as much I’d like to so I was happy to see that Homewood was getting a bakery. I stopped by 4/2 and picked 4 pies (apple crisp, key lime, peach, and pineapple coconut) and have been very happy with the pies my husband and I have tried. Apple crisp has nice firm apples, lots of spices and a buttery crust. The key lime was refreshing and tart, the cookie crust was a little buttery but this didn’t affect the quality of the pie (butter was of good quality to boot!!).nnI’ve not sampled the remaining two pies but if they are of the taste and quality of the two I’ve tried, I will be very happy. These are excellent pies.nnNow just need to sample some of the other items in the shop.nnVery nice looking shop to boot!!nnWelcome to Homewood! For those that haven’t tried this, it’s a must. Keep this lady in business the food is very much worth it.

I love that this is black owned and I wanted my cake experience to be great. But, I ordered a vanilla cake with strawberry filling and upon my first bite all I tasted was sugar - like an uncomfortable amount of sugar. The strawberries were barely even in there to get a good piece that was balanced. I then went on to the icing where all I tasted was butter. I’m a bit disappointed as I’ve had better cakes in the past for cheaper, and ones that didn’t leave me feeling sick afterwards. Way too much sugar and butter for me.

So I've only had two items from Parks. The strawberry cheesecake and the brown butter and bourbon cookies were both excellent. I can't wait to try more stuff from their menu. It should be noted though that the cheesecakes are no-bake cheesecakes, which to me are a whole different animal. If you like that style you're in luck. If it's an actual cheesecake you're after, this ain't it chief.
