My husband and I attended Richard Milburn back in 2007. We made some tuff life changing decisions in our earlier years. The opportunity we were given with RMA made it so we were able to work, care for our little one, go to school, and graduate. We couldn’t have done it without RMA. They helped us grow up and be responsible. We are very grateful!
They filled truancy charges on us after we legally pulled our daughter out of school.nnThey have not had actual teachers in the classroom for quite sometime. Let me reiterate, they have no teachers in several classes. They also have other classes without enough seating and high school age students are sitting on the floor.nnThey do nothing to stop or curb juvenile students from smoking in their parking lot. What kind of school allows that?nnIt go so bad that we took our child out and decided to home school where my daughter is once again doing fantastic with an online curriculum.nnWell, a couple months later they have decided to file truancy charges on us. We followed all parts of Texas state law when we withdrew our child and think that for a school with no teachers and no seats to file on parents who legally withdrew their child is absolutely ridiculous.nnNow we have to go to court, because after all this they can't even give us a straight answer as to whether they can stop the process or not. Unbelievable.
RMA Has been a god send for my daughter she has struggled with school since a young age and as it got harder in higher up grade levels she was always failing and we tried tutors, home schooling, Online schooling and nothing clicked for her until we found out about Richard Milburn Academy.nMy daughter is now a A/B student and loves going to school again and they have helped her get her self esteem back and have worked with us on getting her caught up where she needs to be. The staff and principal here will communicate with you any time of the day with any questions or concerns or even if your child / young adult is struggling with just everyday life you the parent can reach out to anyone there and they do what they can to help the child / young adult deal with anything they have going on that maybe the child / young adult can't work through with their parent they are AWESOME!nnI also want respond to some of the other reviews on here:nn1ST: The school does have Licensed teachers and some courses they do online with a distance teacher from another RMA location but this is another plus to this school because by using distance teachers the schools are able to keep the campus and class rooms small so they can be able to focus more one on one with each student.nn2ND: The school has plenty of chairs/desk/and tables for all students, If students were sitting on the floor it's because it was voluntary and the teachers allow them to do things like that if it helps them and makes them comfortable while they are at school and as long as they are doing their work and progressing so this is another added benefit .nn3RD: Another thing is that this school is not just for misfit or troubled children/young adults my daughter and other kids I know very well that attend there are very good and have never been in trouble a day in their life they just need extra attention and help with schooling , But this school does try to help any and all walks of life to get their education to try to set them up for a better life and future which I think should be the goal for any educator so this is another benefit of this school.nn4TH: There are bad students that disrespect teachers and staff just as there are at all schools, but the school handles them and the situation as quickly as they can and the best way they can ,but sometimes that is hard because we now have a more disrespectful generation being raised and parents are less involved in their teen/young adults life so this allows them to run around with no consequence from home life and this makes all school systems have to deal with this bad behavior and they can no longer punish or issue consequences like they used to because they have to be more worried about the troubled students feelings which has made this generation have no respect for other people and if this behavior was handled at home like it should be all schools would be better off.nn5th : The thing about students smoking outside in the parking lot , the school is not on a private campus and so them being in a shopping center anybody can smoke in the parking lot as they choose and not always is it students it's also employees from the neighboring business.nnI know this is a long review but I believe us parents have to help get the information out there for other parents to be able to make the right decision for their family and just keep in mind you can never judge a book by it's cover so the same should be with your child's education. Do your research not just read reviews,go check out the school meet the staff before making your decision.nnThis School is AWESOME!
