I've definitely never been anywhere besides Texas that people love so much that they will put the flag or the map ON THEIR GRAVESTONE.

We visited the Texas State Cemetery when we were in Austin for our anniversary (weird place to go during such a trip, I know), but this was a short walk from our hotel. It was well worth it because this state cemetery is beautifully maintained and a nice bit of history to check out. Definitely check this out if you are on the east side of town!

Over a period of two tries to visit this cemetery and more specifically to see Chris Kyles's gave, each time I found it closed to the corona virus one time and then the second time because there was a funeral and no visitors were not allowed in the entire cemetery. I even called the second time to see if the cemetery was closed and was told it was not and they didn't have any funerals going on. So, I drive from San Antonio (60 Miles) to find it was closed for a funeral, not even close to Kyle's grave.

Currently closed due to the corona situation, but the website does NOT indicate this... So much fun to drive all the way for nothing. Just fyi..
