When I entered the gate, I looked around to see I need to buy ticket or not but didn't see any instructions. After I took few pictures in the front of castle, the old guy asked me in a rude manner: what did you do here? I answered I saw on the map has a castle here, so I visited. He said I didn't allow to enter, he lives here.nIs it better to have a sign to give instruction where you should buy ticket or how can you allow to enter?nIf it is your business, you should work well with instructions for customers. Do not give a blind and rude after that.nAlso base on the way he told me, I feel he wanted to point out my ethnicity. Terrible guynNever come back even free.
Pros:nThe tour guide and Mike were nice, helpful, and pretty funny too!nI loved how basically nothing was off-limits in the castle and we could explore whatever we wanted to.nI also appreciated how tour was self-guided. We could go wherever we wanted to, in whatever order, and could find the tour guide or Mike if/when we had questions.nI appreciated that bakery pastries were provided for us to eat at any time during the tour.nCons:nThe lunch was no bueno. We didn’t really get a choice between a turkey or ham sandwich, and all of the condiments and toppings (including mustard, mayo, lettuce, tomato, and pickle) were on it. Because of this, I could really only eat the sandwich crust and the bag of chips provided, and we had to spend money after the tour to get a bigger lunch. I might suggest that y’all make the lunch optional and reduce the ticket price for those who opt out, or allow people to order a customized sandwich ahead of time.
Incredible experience and way bigger than you expect. Buy tickets at the bakery in town by 10am. They will give you directions to the castle where you get an intro, see a catapult launch a huge rock, free roam the castle, and get an included lunch from the bakery which is incredible.nnThe owner of Newman’s bakery built the castle by himself and one other helper over the course of 8 years. The walls are built out of cinder blocks and concrete. The castle probably has close to 8 bedrooms rooms and at its tallest is 6 stories tall in the bell tower.nnThe castle has everything you’d expect a castle to have a from a working draw bridge you can lift and lower by crossing into a giant hamster wheel to a great hall, chapel, and working bell tower.nnThe owner and builder is an incredibly humble and friendly man who wants to share his castle with the world.nnThe owner also makes and sell honey at the bakery and the castle.
From the moment you arrive your wowed by an actual castle in the middle of Texas. To think that this was made by a man by himself for himself then opened the public is amazing in itself. Very creative stories and very nice for little kids. The owner a.k.a. the king makes it a point to make the kids feel special and the highlight of the beginning of the tour. An actual working catapult that was cool, a lot of good history facts. Great decor hard to believe that it was all handmade by them. Awesome views and great interactive stuff. It looks like he still expanding by making other rooms. Great picture all around. Simple lunches with great taste, can’t ask for more for the price!!!!! Highly recommend this place especially for families especially with kids. Can’t wait to go back and take family members that come to visit Texas!
