Went during March. Not much going on with flowers and no birds, but the 3/4 mile walk was great. It’s a beautiful area with an interactive trail, highlighting different plants along the way. Would definitely recommend.

This is a very nice place to explore nature. It's a well-marked easily traveled trail that provides both historic and scientific information. This path provides scenic views of Bayou Castille and a cypress swamp.

An excellent place to get back to nature. Flowers and trees galore. A wonderful place to recharge

The Refuge is well maintained, pretty trails and an easy hike. We didn't see any cranes during our time there until just as we were leaving three flew overhead.

The visitors center is closed due to COVID; however, this is a perfect spot to bring yourself or kids to stretch and get outside. It was fun to try to find the identified plants and read about the environment. The signs were well written: descriptive and informative.nIt's worth mentioning that there was a previous comment made about how the visitor center when it is open, is only open for a few hours. I think it's important to remember that the main purpose of this wildlife refuge is to protect the endangered MS Sandhill Crane, not to be solely a source of entertainment for taxpayers. The visitor center property, open to the public, is only a very small portion of the preserve. The staff is here to support that main mission of ensuring that the preserve is well maintained and that the birds are thriving :)
