American Red Cross

I do not recommend taking a First Aid and CPR course if you are a healthcare provider. Classes are expensive, takes all day, and location is on the other side of town. There are better places to go.

Volunteering for the Red Cross was one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve ever had. Helping the ones in need after their house burnt down, or after a major flood or hurricane, changed my life forever. A great feeling of humanity, compassion and love.

Red Cross is one of my favorite Non-Profit Organizations to Volunteer. They have great classes and training programs. I just took a class on Disaster Preparedness which I enjoyed so much. I can’t wait to educate the community and get involved more with the Red Cross!

I know it is a non-profit organization, but it was very frustrating when the class got cancelled without any notice when I scheduled a class on a weekend, and it was due to Instructor not showing up. They refunded the whole amount without any question, so I thought I would give it another chance. I rescheduled my class on a weekday because I thought that the office will be open during the day and someone will definitely be there to train. However, they cancelled the class yet again, and it is just unprofessional and exasperating. :( I have to miss work on both appointments which means lost opportunity and wasted time. I hope that they will change their procedures and become more efficient in the future!

I love Volunteering for the Red Cross, because they have so many different and interesting programs, and I learnt so much. My favorite department is casework. I follow up with fire victims, to ensure they are recovering well or need our help and support. A rewarding and meaningful feeling I have each time. Mahalo!
