I Had court last week the public defender over the phone told me it was in person not on zoom and that she would send me the plea to sign and bring with. So I get to the courtroom and Im the only person there and show up with no plea deal becsuse she emailed it and it got put in my junk folder hidden under like 100 emails I got that week. I WAS SET UP! I couldnt take the plea deal and on top of it they never ask any details about my case they dont know my side of the story they never discuss anything with you like a normal attorney should. They are there to side with the state and set you up any way they can its all about the dollar bill!
Started out not thinking that they were efficient that's the reason I gave them three stars they were too full not really a whole place just sit finally called me after about a 40 minute wait didn't seem like they really cared but I have to admit when I went to court the man knows what he was doing ended up getting not guilty plea and he done his job found out that it was just a way for them to practice to learn even though I wish they would just have hurried up and got over with so therefore I give him three stars the lawyer I give him a 5 good work
Well I should have done my research and hired a lawyer for my speeding ticket which I feel I definitely could have won but I took the public defenders advice and pleaded to a lesser charge... well my car insurance has skyrocketed to an unaffordable rate and I’m going to pay this for the next 3 YEARS! I’m going to have to surrender my car that I can no longer afford to drive now. You can see why the system is broken and people drive without insurance and inevitably end up in the same public defenders office for driving without insurance and warrants and on and on. Being locked up in prison because the consequences are too severe and it’s impossible to get back on track when everything is stacked against you.nI get they are over worked and probably underpaid but at least ask these questions of your client rather then pushing them to make a deal to get them off your desk! We pay taxes for a system rigged to fail us! I would have found a way to hire a lawyer if I would have known just how much a speeding ticket on the H3 was going to actually cost me in the long run. My ability to drive or drive legally.
What the Hell was that I just went through? Wow. And what was this offices' role they were playing in this game? Wow. Not one person I had contact with had a clue or cared. Good thing case was dismissed (which should have been at my first appearance), and I wasn't billed for anything, cuz I would have paid for what I got, ZIP. I'm not sure if the total stranger who called my name, took me out the courtroom and told me I'd probably have to come back cuz witness hadn't shown, and the lab report was unavailable (test for, I assume the 1/4 can of PBR I had) was defending me? Or prosecuting me? I told him I expect a dismissal. Judge listened to him say what he had just told me earlier and dismissed the case. Wasted tax dollars as usual, wasted day off from work, wasted stress and negative energy. Not ONE person asked for my side of story, gave me hope, or valuable information. The office looks just like the welfare office, full of people like me, who just can't catch a break, society's misfits, looking for someone who will explain, inform, or at least listen! I'm a 60 yr old woman with absolutely no record, tickets, nothing! But, my crime is I'm working poor and homeless. If homeless programs actually worked, I wouldn't be here. They're designed to keep the millions received to help us, tied up in programs, in order to receive more. Meanwhile, I needed a couple hundred to secure an apt, until I got my security deposit from my last. Nope, no one answers phones, or return calls. And when I show at the offices, they take one look and say we got no money to help you, while thinking, effen Haolie! All day I deal, everyday. Aloha, my arse.
Place is a joke. Second time here. The front desk people still have bad attitudes like they’re miserable and they’re very unclear when communicating. However the public defender I talked to was professional and nice.
