Worth the cost to check it out. It’s a self guided tour but they give you headsets to narrate and guide you. When you are the sub the clips automatic play when you reach certain spots which my husband and I appreciated. There is a good amount of climbing though if you have any health conditions please be advised. Also if you have any kind of height to you be prepared to walk hunched over and constantly be ducking down. Other then that it was so cool to see how it would have been for our Navy men back then and the sacrifices and conditions that they had to live in.
It was incredible to see this part of history. My husband and children enjoyed touring the inside of the submarine, but if you are even mildly claustrophobic, please hang out and check out the views from the deck (which I'm sure is a no-brainer for most people... I just thought I'd be able to breathe slowly and brave though it). I made the mistake of getting a few steps down with a line behind me, and I panicked trying to push past others to get out faster.nnWhat I did see was impressive though!
Great place to visit. Self guided. Not for the mobility impaired or those carrying a lot of weight (how can I avoid the point being larger myself) as it can be tight and a lot of stairs up and down. But well worth the effort if you can make it.
The museum is great, get the audio player. You will hear cold war sub and nuclear sub. The Bowlin is cool to walk through, hard to imagine living on the sub, but they held the line ND defended the US. They did all this with out many noticing. Nice tribute to those who served.
Wonderful museum. Very clean and informative. Easy to walk through and well put together. If I can ever make it back to Pearl Harbor I will definitely be walking through here again.
