Dr. Steven Gillespie DPM

I visited Dr.Gillespie’s office last year and have waited until the relationship was over to give a fair rating. The staff and Dr are very polite and did what they could for me and although they could not help my issue they tried their best and I am grateful for that. The reason they will only receive an sub average rating for me is due to their billing company. I informed them of my budget and HSA insurance prior to making the first appointment and although they could not provide me with an exact estimate for what a new patient visit would cost they did reassure me that it would be reasonable and shouldn’t fall outside of my budget. A few months after the visit and after going through my HSA which I talked to them about not covering anything due to the high deductible I received a bill for $650 dollars for the visit X-rays and a injection that was supposed to help with the inflammation and pain (unsuccessfully). I attempted to talk to the office about it who directed me to billing and we went back and forth for quite a few months only to be directed back to the office. After leaving messages I ended up having to come in person only to hear that I had already been sent to collections 5 months earlier. This again is a rating on the business overall and should not be taken to be a negative depiction on the Dr or the staff who were kind, but I do believe the billing company is incompetent and am now in collections during the time I had been in actively in contact with them trying to come to an agreement. A company whose phone number they did not have and information they couldn’t provide me. This may just end up being a “that’s just the way things are” due to insurance but it is awful.nn**edit**nSince making this review I made another plead to the office to at least point me in the right direction I was fortunate enough to find the “middleman” between the billing company and themselves and we were able to come to a self pay cost (almost half) and I was able to square up with them. Now I just have to hope the collections agency was just a threat and not actually sent and I will have paperwork probing the debt is paid just in case.

I went to Dr. Gillespie for ingrown toenail treatment.nHe has a GREAT bedside manner, and is very personable. I felt that he listened to me using more lidocaine spray in the numbing process as I requested.nAfter care was explained and I was sent home w/good printed instructions. So far, it’s all good.nI will be setting appointments for additional family members.

Dr. Gillespie is courteous, on time and treats you like real person. Very good Dr.
