Great spot just a few miles off the pavement, but far enough out that it feels like an escape. Seasonal kayaking and hunting. Camping, fishing, hiking, birdwatching and horseback riding year around. Low light pollution at night. Brand new facilities and friendly knowledgeable staff. Full hookups and a quiet, primitive campground with hot showers! Couldn't ask for more.

Road was more washboarded than a year ago and lots of smoke in the area, but nice and quiet with only a few campers. The clean restrooms and showers are appreciated. Once the trees grow, it will be even better. Surprised that the river is still flowing nicely for gentle floating--if Mother Nature would just blow out the smoke.
Really nice place. Can't believe I just heard about it a week ago. I look forward to returning and camping there. The bathrooms were nice and the staff in the visitors center was nice.
This is a brand new park. And they did a really nice job with it. Only went to the Pitchfork / visitor center area. My only complaint is that there is little natural shade in picnic and camping areas. They do have metal coverings over all the tables to provide shade. Also tables are fiberglass so bring tablecloths. Visitor center is very nice.
