Capulin Volcano National Monument

Things got a little heated, but all in all it was cool!

We stopped by on a whim while on a road trip and even though we were only there for 30 minutes it was one of our most memorable stops. Nick was working in the visitor center and was an absolute joy to speak with. He is so clearly passionate about what he does and it was a pleasure to watch him enthusiastically talk about the night sky. His passion is infectious and we can't wait to come back.

This monument is a wonderful day trip. Well maintained and we'll signposted this volcano is a treat for all. A well staffed and we'll sticker visitors center has great facilities and souvenirs.nWe didn't go up to the top of the volcano but the staff say the views are incredible.

This place is so worth the visit. Rim trail and trail to the bottom of volcano are great but WINDY and STEEP. Be prepared - but the views are beautiful. We also did the La Boca grail and it was pretty but felt longer than it was and didn't have the same spectacular views, however its a nice hike WHEN it's not muddy. I highly recommend taking a pit stop at this amazing monument.

Wow, what a view and it's really neat to visit an extinct volcano. Our second drive up to the top volcano in the US and this one didn't disappoint. We enjoyed learning about the volcano and surrounding area. The ranger at the visitor center was great and she was very friendly and helpful. We will be back to visit again.
