I enjoyed the experience. The texture of my ribeye was buttery at medium rare, the way a real man eats his steak. I admit the flavor was much improved by the steak sauce. Cattle Baron would do well to adopt a searing practice that uses a butter sauce or some kind of basting on the ribeye to add flavor. My wife had Shrimp Scampi and said she wished there had been more shrimp. I saw her portion, which was small indeed. She is also a very small person. That portion would not come close to satisfying a medium to large sized individual.nnOur server was great, and I wish I could remember his name. It was Saturday, September 19, 2020. We ordered from the COVID menu. He dished us up for salad bar and dessert selections, which were fresh and delicious. I was extremely impressed with the flavors of the limited salad bar options.
Feeling we had run out of food options or interest after only two days, we realized the reviews here were better than the composite in Yelp. I'm glad we came here. This is a limited chain started in the 70's. They've never seen a reason to update the dining style. This has got to be one of the last places in the country with a large salad bar you get to graze before dinner. Being a steakhouse, there is no reason to go with half the menu. We had a mix of steaks and prime rib. As expected, the prime rib is somewhat more cooked than I'd like, and the steaks were cooked pretty solid. The sauces available all looked good. Some of their meat is prime grade. That puts them above most places. We each had a cocktail. There was no Rye in the house for a proper Manhattan, so we had them with Makers. They were solid other than that.nThis is a restaurant that seems to cover both the more casual restaurant world they apparently started out as, and the finer dining we went for.
BIG shout out to Anthony! On Sunday, October 18 we were traveling up from TX heading back to WA and rolled into their parking lot 20 min to closing. Anthony greeted us at our table as if we were his first guests and was authentically and genuinely happy to see us. You could tell instantly that he REALLY loved his vocation and that meeting the needs of his patrons brought exceeding joy to him. His recommendations on menu items were on point and he found the perfect balance of making himself available to us, but also not hovering and interrupting our table with frequent check ins. The value we got FAR EXCEEDED the very accommodating price of the food.nCattle Baron has got a real gem working for them!
A bit pricey. Food was good, salad was a little sad lettuce was brown and wilted. Bread and butter delicious. Gravy for chicken fried steak a little thick. Ribs a little plain but good. Chicken Alfredo good but not a good portion. Steak was awesome. Not to keen on outside dining with all the flies but the waitress was sweet and attentive.
We had a 25 minute wait. Then sat down and our waitress was not very happy to start and neglected to tell us their special. We only knew after overhearing another waiter. She came back 10 minutes after taking our order to ask what I ordered again. Then our order came and they brought the wrong order for my husband! He ordered a fairly expensive large steak and wanted it medium... they brought a prime rib. He had to wait while we all had our food. They eventually brought it... and everything was only so-so. There was no discount at all or offer for dessert or drinks... very poor service and mediocre food especially for the price.
