As a Marylander, I'm here to tell ya that hiking in New Mexico is not the same as hiking through the forest back east. This park is very New Mexico - dry, dusty, and hot. However, it was a neat experience to hike the well maintained trails there.nnThe lake is really kinda marshy, and smells accordingly. There are lots of ducks and other wildlife. Overall I'd say it's worth a stop if you're in Roswell, but don't go out of your way.

Cute stop, not a ton to do and the visitor center was closed, but it's a great area for some views and stretching your legs. I also thought it was awesome how they have plants labeled so you can learn some basic botany too!

Beautiful gem outside of Roswell. Only 10 miles east. You can drive around the loop or hike if you wish.

The picture says it all,but it's so peaceful and uncrowded.Nice place to get away from it all and clear your thoughts.

A perfect way to spend Saturday morning with the feathered friends from exotic places! Crane, mallards, geese, and duck. Spectacular show! The walk is fine!!
