Honestly if I could do fractions of stars here I would. So many things wrong with this place. Most of the employees are nice. I have been in there on multiple occasions and the employees are not the issue; the problem is the higher ups. I’ve seen who I think is the owner once when I went in. I have seen the way he treats the employees and it is outlandish. I use to shop here a lot a while back when I think they were under different ownership. Back then it seemed the owners were focused on care about animals and it wasn’t all about money. It seems like this place nowadays only wants to flip a dime. You would think owning a shop that stands out and has its niche would have some compassion rather than monetary concern. If you’re doing it right all the way around you will have both things. It starts at the top and that’s where I feel they lack. I have met the manager, a kind lady and she is super helpful and really cares about the animals in the shop but I can just tell the problems are above her. Recently I have ran into another younger woman and a younger guy as well who are both really happy to work with the animals and really enjoy theirs jobs. Its sad to see such smart, helpful employees be stuck in this position. It seems like deep down they are a servant to the higher ups, rather than employees. They don’t seem to be given the creative freedoms that come with selling and distributing exotic and really all animals. It starts with care and compassion and really has a lot to do with the way you treat your employees. Don't know that I will shop here anymore, but I hope to see a change if I decide to give this place another shot. I will also let my friends and family know the down hill slope this place has been on. I also wasn’t sure how to respond to the owners response on this review. I don’t think it’s a personal problem nor preference with me rather it’s a personal problem with them and their tactics. it definitely shows in the way they respond too reviews such as mine scroll down the reviews and check out the one stars to see what the owner has to say about the comments he wasn’t so fond of. not very friendly or caring whatsoever and couldn’t care less if you were shopping with them or not. thats not how business should be handled whatsoever and I’m appalled. If you can’t listen and take honest feedback you shouldn’t run a business. Thanks for the advice tho I will be sure to stay away and I will also be sure everyone I know and come in contact with in the reptile hobby does aswell.
Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. Its always clean and well sorted in the store. I love just walking around looking at the animal enclosures and plants.
Great shop but after my own research, they sold me a NICARAGUAN CURLY HAIRED, which is half the price of a HONDURAN CURLY HAIRED, but my spider was mislabeled, and ironically I was directed to this spider over one I was going to choose. In other groups on social media this isn't the first time this has happened at this location.nShady business tactics, if I still had the receipt I'd go raise a stink, but I just think I'll take my business elsewhere.
I had gotten a bag of soil from their store and noticed some bugs that look like mites. I contacted them about it and talked with Corey about it. We were able to figure out that the bugs were in fact springtails. A better outcome to what I thought they were. Corey answered all my questions and was able to get everything figured out. Corey definitely improved my view of Scales ‘N Tails, they have definitely earned my next purchase at their store.
Loved this place till this week. Terrible customer service from the manager. We will no longer shop here. I understand policies but you can't even get her to respond to a phone call. Excuses after excuses from employees of why she can't talk to you. Customer service is everything. Just a simple call back saved you years of a customer.
