I have been dealing with this school for over 11 years. And I was surching. For a school that was for the student and care about them as well. When I tell you Emerson is the best school. I love it the only hard thing they just go up to the 8th grade. And the last few weeks we been out the teachers call, text and even do videos with the class so the children can still see each other.

As a student I can say that they were way too worried about getting good test results than actually figuring out the students learning styles and they let us kids get away with everything.

They let my 5 year old walk around the school by his self. He got sent home with no coat when he surely came to school with one on, not to mention its winter, and a little boy drew all over his back with a permanent marker with his uniform shirt, never heard a thing from the teacher about that. So do the teachers not pay attention to their students and what they are doing ???? I do not care for any school that is in dayton. Working on getting them out as soon as possible.

I've read the reviews and at least one student complained about Emerson focusing on test and test scores. To that I say, if test scores have improved that means the students are indeed learning. That's a good thing! Also consistently low scores could possibly get that school shut down. I'm sure many parents wouldn't like that now that the school is starting to turn around. Principal Brown has been making great strides towards the success of each student. He communicates weekly via email, text, or phone. He also encourages the parents to be hands on and all in when it comes to their child(ren). But it's not just about academics. Emerson has a music department, sports such as volleyball & basketball and school dances. There is always room for improvement but Dr. Brown (principal) is making an effort and he does care for the students well being. So in the end you get what you put in to it....work with the teachers, principal & your child(ren) & they are guaranteed to succeed! Btw....I have an 8th grade student there!

I understand that the law states that you cannot stop a child from attending school with lice but over the past year (CY 18 and CY 19) lice has been running rampant within the school. We have spent over $700 in treatment for our children along with preventative measures and once again my children have lice. This has to be stopped. The school must be proactive and hold parents accountable. If the school just turns a blind eye then they should be held responsible. If the administration wants to contact me please feel free to do so. You have my contact information.
