Mutual of Omaha (MoO) is providing my long term disability (LTD) and required me to apply for social security disability. MoO contacted Social Security Advocates (SSA) on my behalf without my knowledge, but it seemed like a good idea at the time. SSA did file my paperwork and my social security disability did get approved. However, when my first lump sum payment was received, $2,800 had been taken out for attorney's fees. Per my contract with MoO and the contract markups I sent to SSA, MoO was supposed to pay all of these fees, not me. If I had it to do again, I would find another company to help me with this. One of these two companies, probably SSA, is unethical and, in my opinion, in breach of contract.
