This beautiful monument and park seems to be abandoned by the state. You have to park on the street below and walk up to the monument as the gate is permanently closed, thus depriving those who are handicapped from access to the parking area there. The magnificent views of the bay are now obscured by trees and shrubs which have been allowed to grow up. Too bad the state can’t take better care of it.
We walked from the gate after hours. Very nice light duty walk up to the top. We were inspire by our 80+ friend, who walks up every morning with her daughter. ud83dude03
Easy boat access. Lunch spot with beautiful views. Peaceful place to go
Love this place but it is barely ever open. Even when monument is closed, the grounds are beautiful to walk, but the view from up top is a must see if you can go on the few weekends it is open. Would be nice if they opened it daily.
